god, stop editing.
a poem
i haven’t even swallowed my bite
and you’re already talking too loud.
this light is too bright, but you can’t hear me say
“turn it off”
so i reach past you and flick the switch.
“remember the past?” you ask.
“yes i remember the past” i say.
“i don’t think there’s anything left for me there”
”no, there’s nothing left for anyone there”
i take another bite, expecting something to change
and now your silence is the only thing ringing
in my ears.
god, stop editing.
